About the client
Established in September 2004, Sohar Aluminium operates Oman's first greenfield aluminium smelter, producing over 390,000 tonnes of high-purity metal annually. The company is jointly owned by OQ, TAQA, and Rio Tinto, with an integrated power plant and port facilities in Sohar, Oman.
Sohar Aluminium's LMS and goal management systems are used org-wide; employees complete courses and update objectives, and managers assign development plans and track team progress. The systems had the right functionality, but employees and managers weren't clear on core processes like assigning courses, linking learning to objectives, and updating goals, which limited the value the organization got from tools it had already invested in.
The problem statement
Employees struggled to link assigned learning to specific objectives, and managers had no clear way to track how development plans tied into performance goals.
Static documentation and standard training decks failed to hold employee attention and created friction across a multilingual workforce, leading to low completion rates for core LMS modules.
Without clear visibility into how learning is tied to objectives, managers likely used inconsistent methods to track employee progress, with some relying on manual follow-ups rather than the system itself.
Core LMS processes, course assignment, class rosters, e-learning launches, learning history checks, went underused because employees and managers weren't sure how to navigate them.
How Gyde solved it
Since UAT access wasn't granted due to compliance restrictions, the Gyde team mapped every LMS and goal management process live, via screen-share with Sohar Aluminium's team controlling the screen.
Each process was rebuilt using Gyde's AI walkthrough creator to generate structured, step-by-step video content.
Videos were enhanced with zoom effects, custom title screens, and divider screens between sub-processes for clarity.
Arabic voiceovers gave employees a native-language experience, and callout borders and buttons were matched to Sohar Aluminium's application theme.
The outcome
Goal completion hovering low
70% goal completion and submission rate
Adoption rate increased
Lengthy live training sessions
60% reduction in onboarding
Training time reduced
Repetitive LMS support queries on basic navigation
40% drop in support tickets
In-app contextual guidance resolves friction
The pattern behind the result
High-compliance environments often restrict direct system access. Gyde built the entire walkthrough library through controlled screen-share sessions instead.
Native-language voiceovers removed a language barrier that generic, English-only training content couldn't solve.
Zoom effects, title screens, and theme-matched styling made the walkthroughs feel native to Sohar Aluminium's own application.
