1. Create object-specific actions or global actions.
2. Customize the action layout with the fields that you want users to see when they use the action.
3. Add the actions to page layouts or global publisher layouts. Salesforce automatically adds default actions to the page layouts for account, case, contact, lead, and opportunity, and to the global publisher layout in organizations that were created after Winter ‘14.
