Build Text Email Using Classic Tools
- Click the my emails folder.
- Click Create.
- Select Text Only.
- Fill in the following fields:Email Name: Type a brief internal description of the email. The email name is what you and other users see in your email folder. Subscribers can't see this name.Email Subject: Type what you want to appear in the Subject line of the email when the email is delivered.If you use AMPscript in your subject line, click Expand under Email Subject Line toview a larger text field, which helps you see the entireAMPscript string and allows you to better read and edit longstrings of code. To return the field to a single line, click the Collapse button.To insert a personalization string into the Subject line, click .To open the Dynamic Subject Line dialog box, click .You can use Unicode characters in the subject line. Type (orcopy and paste) the characters with the encoding that you wantto use.Remember that the Subject line is the most significant factor inwhether a subscriber opens the email or not. As a best practice,use the personalization feature to insert subscriber-specificinformation into the Subject line. Inserting your company namein the Subject line is also recommended to reinforce the oftenoverlooked From line. The subject line can only be 80 characterslong.Preheader: Type in what you want to appear as a Preheader.Tag: Enter words that pertain to the topic of the email. This helps you locate emails of similar category. For example, if the email you're creating is going to offer a weekly coupon, you can enter "coupon, offer, 15% off, weekly".Location: This field shows the email folder in which the email is stored. - Create your email by pasting or typing text into the text entry box.
- Insert personalization strings as needed by selecting the string in the drop-down menu and click the Insert button.
- Click Save.Your email is saved in the My Emails folder under the Content tab.
